That reporter babe is pretty hot-looking but stupid.

Incidentally, both Carlyle and Coltrane have acted in the 1999 James Bond thriller THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH

@Justine Kessner,
Hello again. Why do you ask more than once at each uploaded episode of the series?
Please, just ask your local library if they possess a copy and offer it to rent. If they don't, please ask them to ORDER it from Acorn, and yes, their DVDs do indeed play in Canadian DVD players.

Even if foreign DVDs don't play in your player there are hacks listed online for most or all DVD players to change the "region" ability to an international setting, when all DVDs will play. O.K.?

By the by, if you've screened that episode in the past you'll know its almost nothing like these terrific episodes from the early to mid-1990s. The story is very dour and the main character is extremely unlikeable. Also, the episode has very little of Fitz being impressively clever, humorous, compassionate, cheeky or slightly humble when meditative. Of the scenes Robbie Coltrane does have, his character is very negative, cynical, more selfish than ever before and self-pitying... not nearly as endearing, interesting or entertaining as in these episodes available here.

I realise this is my own personal opinion (...yes, I know the idiom... ;) and I am a great fan of Jimmy McGovern, yet this is still my opinion on that final episode of the series. In other words, you're not missing much if you don't end up with a copy and eventually, all DVDs will be available online so rest assured you'll most likely screen it. :) Best wishes toward your goal.

I've always loved this show, and this episode specifically, but watching it now for the first time in years I'm struck by how much more accurate it feels to the modern day. Like a very slow motion riot, it's taken a few more decades for Albie's feelings to start fully crystalizing in other men, both UK and US men. "We like to congregate, but there's nothing left to congregate for." "We reached out for help, but there were no brownie points in helping us." Uncanny.

@Christen Kimbell,
And, let's not forget the men of the majority and who control nearly everything on the planet, those of European descent of Canada, Australia and South Africa, all brutally colonised, still very racist and misogynistic countries. ...Worse even, per capita, than in the two regions you've mentioned, in my personal experience. To their credit, many New Zealanders of European descent are standing up against the entitled bigotry and delusion of "white" supremacy and aren't warmly welcoming such immigrants from South Africa whereas the out "racist" Australians are gung-ho in their welcoming and rallying for them to come over.

Amazing what some people believe in. When you're dead, you're dead.

4 years ago

there are also MILLIONS of documented case of people stated dead who came back and you know what? nothing

4 years ago

Are you saying that you do not believe in Life after Death? No arguments from me just asking you since you had typed the response that it is amazing what some people believe in. Did you know that there are THOUSANDS of documented cases of people that were stated DEAD by a doctor, some for hours, and they came back telling their life after death experiences. There are people that have been dead for DAYS, in the morgue, and come back to life in the morgue! DAYS not hours or minutes but DAYS!!! AMAZING!

I had no idea that caps were considered rude, I thought they were like to make more of a point, to make someone see how much you wanted something, and I'll never do it again like that! My bad, and I never put my credit card on-line anyways. It is just that those shows were on YouTube, the ones I want are not on sites like PrimeWire, and they are the ones I love the most. Thanks!

4 years ago

What's with all the caps and explanation marks? You do realise that's considered rude, right?
If you're really so adamant about watching the rest of the episodes, The first month of Acorn TV is free, and they have all the Cracker stories. ("Nine Eleven" is called "A New Terror" there.)

+Dr Buz Sawyer, Jr
Personally, I don't think he's ever played a false character--even in small roles. He's a great talent, who only recently is noticed because of his higher profile in American TV. He labored for years on lovely indie films, which went unnoticed.
Glad he's finally getting recognition.

+Anna Sefalik CARLYLE was also Brilliant in " FACE ", 1998, directed by the powerhouse, Antonia Bird, whom we lost last year.

+RUDI UK This country probably will blow come next election. All the dominoes are lined up and they're about to fall. Funny enough what Albie says in this episode could be more relevant now than ever.

Your loss lad.  This is one of the best pieces of television drama ever. Sums up the sense of despair and anger every British working class male goes through at some point.

Love the writing in this show.  Especially at 2:01 : "It's one thing to be left at the airport, Fitz, but to be left at the airport by a big fat, egocentric middle-aged, married man, well that's another thing altogether."  lol !
