No credit for this video goes to me other than bringing the audio by Alan Watts together with a picture I find on Google. Thank You for watching and I hope great things occur in your lives from watching :)!
He is my Cadillac of Guru'ism, a torch-light of the mind and a Swiss Army knife of life! Amen

Alan Watts figured it out wish he was still teaching. Not a fan of the modern walking on eggshell nature of teaching zen; zen masters are always passively threatening like their wisdom is untethered. so strange to me frankly pretentious farce at worst. Spinning intelligent"cool" yarns. Watts is guilty of this on occasion imo but mastered and did not tolerate such eventually.

the hardest thing for me is trying not to understand and accept not knowing. u feel a deep longing to understand reality on a deeper level while you are sitting there observing. either way, u cant make a living being a passive observer. u do have to go out there and play a little bit! at least in western society unless u want to be the gutter rat living in the box. good luck being human in that condition lol

What we’re doing here is, listening to a very smart man explain nothing, and it’s simply amazing to realize.

I Don't know about anyone else. But listening to Alan lights a fire in my belly causing me to act. Like the thought process he inspires helps eliminate my mental blocks or anxieties.

Totally.. Dito here too. Try OSHO too. Once OSHO gets under your skin, you will free yourself of so much, it's unimaginable without doing it. Don't let the accent get to you, just play them all, just play them all and you'll be thankful, that he awoke the rebel in you. Amen

A movie should be made about this man's life and his philosophy.

itd be nice, but most of his personal philosophy wasnt all that different from other thinkers like him i think. So he probably wouldnt be that profound a subject for a movie. He mostly just popularized and made easily understandable to westerners the eastern philosophies. I think Terence Mckenna would be more appropriate for a movie. Not saying Alan Watts is boring. He has changed a lot of my ways of thinking profoundly. But Terence Mckenna was a bit more unusual as a thinker considering his views.

He basically said crying after someone's death is learnt behavior, I would have to disagree on that.
Allen creates a higher order by both combining and comparing multiple ways of being and somewhere between them all is the truth. He doesn't say Hinduism is the right way or even that the way is the only way. But use your mind to sift through them all for clues. Again Kundalini yoga says be your own guru. Expand beyond what the great Mr. Watts has offered or suggested.

Just so Rene Descartes was wrong when he implied dualism was the Mind-Body and sent millions on the wrong path. Disturbing the natural order. Between Descartes and Erikson they planted the seeds of self deception and you (we) cultivated them. Not knowing any better. The Dao is like the cold passing through you, will you dismiss it as just cold.
I have a theory that consciousness is like an atmosphere only will you breathe in? The Dao is like ten thousand years of thought condensed into the answer. You get an instant the world is not ready for you now feeling. Blessings to all that seek.

There he finally gave it away the mystical of being a mystic. We are taught nature vs nurture Erikson's adage but that introduces dualism not so subtly. I found the dao when I thought I was sincere to my nature but again I was wrong. Be sincere to nature itself while in nature. When Yoda told Luke to use the force, Luke doesn't ask who created it or why. He just knows it's power and moves forward in life with it.

Most of the time I’m high when I’m listening to alan ... and then I feel like only allow to let my body to be high ... then I can relate to each word ..then I hear yes yes yes yes :)
It is fun to pretend you don't know the answer and listen to Alan gear u up and release it to you. But it is just as an important to not adore his audible chocolate to the point his words are in your head for comfort after you finish listening.

What instrument is he using at 50:00?
Table harp
I also want to know. It sounds more string oriented however rather than from a bowl
probably a four to six inch copper bowl...
11 dislikes, WTF
This is profound, when the penny drops its obvious
Jamie Lamb "The sound of rain doesn't need an explanation."
( ^ _ ^ ) Mu!
He does start by saying the event would be much better if he said nothing at all.
After listening to many hours of Alan Watts, I'm inclined to think that the people who left those dislikes are Zen masters.
I love falling asleep to these lectures, but then getting woken up abruptly from an ad in the middle of it...excellent stuff.
Is this not the exact sort of surprise Zen calls for?
what if the ads were putting you to sleep and the lectures waking you up :P
Same with me
Iz Russell there is, but they'll still get you in the YouTube app.

Thanks dear Alan!
Another one of my favorites! Great lecture for sure!
Among his best talks ever. Thanks!
