The top 5 bikes I list are I feel the best for new riders and old riders. What do you think I missed or did I get it right? Watch to the end for Free decal info..
+tod king Don't know what J is but thanks
690 ADV j
Kaerius perfect thanks, most of my pronunciations are bad! Thanks again
It's not Husk-varna, it's Hus-kvarna. The first part is pronounced just like in the middle name of your previous president, you just follow with kvarna instead of ein.
+Esther Jackson The KLR with the right rider and I mean right rider can romp offroad! the big bikes can never hang with a KLR just to heavy
Not that it matters, but it is "HUUS- KVARNA" (phonetic). Thanks man. Some good info.
You had me at 03:03
+Juan Rios I want one badly! Had a wr250F and loved it and miss it a lot. I will have a WR250R in the future. thanks for the comments
The WR250R is my favorite 4 stroke bike..
not sure what that means, but thanks for the comment
Joe, are you going to do a review on the Honda crf450l? I'm really interested in it. I like the 690, but I'm a little concern about the power - it may be too much for me.
Yes, the 690 does have plenty of power! But its manageable plus you can have it with custom mapping for you if you know where to go and get it dyno tuned. The crf450 rally is a cool bike the maintenance is short on it like 700 to 900 mile oil changes but the 500exec is about the same. There are guys that do huge trips on 500’s so who is to say you can’t in a 450. The 450l is Honda’s equivalent to the 500 KTM. I will keep you posted on the 450l shoot me an email and sign for decal and I will keep you posted. Thanks so much for being part of the channel
good choises there, but you missed the best one of all, ktm640 adventure. they might be getting old now, but nothing else comes close to a do all, has everything you need from the get-go, light weight, long range, good on single trails, good on the open trails, able to carry gear, nice wind covering, dakar looking bike. mine has 75000kms and still going great. i keep looking at a 690/701, but to setup the same/similar to the 640 you have to nearly double the price. All i can say is if ktm build a 690 adventure with the same ideals as the 640 it will be the greatest of all, ktm are you listening!
If you can find one its a monster bike! and yes should be on the list
Africa Twin is the answer.
The AT is a sweet bike, tad heavy but yes will do the work for sure
2 minutes of content in a too long video.
Well...since you are going to pick at pronunciation. How about you learn how to pronounce the word "similar". Just poking at you. I like your choices. I've owned klr and dr. I much prefer an uncorked DR anyday. Ride on.
You are like the 100th person to tell me that and I can't get enough of it, I am horrible with that word! as much as I try I can get it out right when vlogging. I agree the DR uncorked is a beast and a Colorado runner for sure. thanks so much
im thinking of getting the license and buy a used klr 650.
Bee Beeswax that is a great bike look for one that is 2007 and under unless you can find a deal on a new one. You will love it. Let me know what you get? Have a great day
I been riding cruiser motorcycles for over 10 years. I really want to do dual sports. Watch it on YouTube everyday. Sadly I’m freakin short. 5-03
Dude you really like to hear yourself talk. Get to the freaking point already
It's OK, Its a Rant and a ride! it's a motovlogg. Too many haters in the world that don't give anything back just judge. Thanks for the watch.
You sound like you're doing a Jack Black impersonation...
+Firesail Thanks so much
The first few minutes I could have sworn it was Jack haha. Good info on the vid.
Thanks I love Jack Black, but not trying to do an impression, thanks for checking the vid out!
I've had dual sport bikes since the mid 70s. 1st off I would not consider a dual sport here in the PNW these days that was not fuel injection. To many elevation and temperature changes to screw up the jetting. Fuel injection is so much better than a old school EPA carb. here in the PNW. The WR250R is a GEM for dual sports. The DR 400 would be great if they updated to FI but Suzuki for what ever reason can't seem to do it. Same problem with many 650s.
Agree 100% EFI is just a must these days better fuel mileage and better in altitude as you stated, if you don't ADV travel then no big deal but go up some of the passes in CO and see how the Carb does with no adjustment. Thanks so much for your comment
I thought the scenery looked familiar, then I saw you ride through Keller. Hi, neighbor!
How is it going small world, yeah I ride through keller all the time. Maybe see you out there sometime. Be safe out there
You want people to pronounce husqvarna right but you pronounce similar Sim”U”lar 🤦♂️
yeah have had many comments on that, I will work on it but when I am ranting it just comes out that way can't help it
Ktm 525 exc. faster then all those and extremely reliable
Sgt Thor That's way awesome, they great motors these days but not like some they used to make! 😀
Yes sir an 05. The rfs engines were great
Thats a fantastic bike for sure, do you own one?
Yak yak yak...
Tone Cray haters come in all shapes and sizes! What size and shape are you?
FE501
+WADZ UP yeah I have a 690R and just way too much fun! that 501 will just give the smack down!
+690 ADV She's intoxicating, torque beast and wheelies are so fun!
man if you have one! thats a awesome bike
I subbed and enabled notifications - keep up the great work
Thank you so much! thanks for being a part of the channel
Very nice real world review brother. Rock on
Thank you very much, ride safe!
I love my DRZ400 and you are right it goes anywhere - there isn't a hill (and I mean major grade w/ needing momentum to clear a top vertical peaks) that I have not ran into I can not take. I can ride all day on that bike and hours fly by because I have so much fun on that bike.
The DRZ400 is just a swiss army knife! that is the low/mid weight king to do everything road and dirt.
Thanks for the info joe from a beginner rider .
I hope this video helped some, thanks for the nice comment! if there is anything I can help with just send an email 690adv@gmail.com. Have a good one and be safe.
Someone just stole my 2007 DR 650, so I guess they agreed with you it was a good bike. I will be buying a new 2019 DR 650 to replace it, I absolutely love the DR, It is my commuter to work and back and it runs really nice in the dirt. My son owns a DRZ 400, we both surprisingly discovered the DR was more nimble than the DRZ, likely because it isn't liquid cooled and doesn't have oil in the frame so carries it's weight lower. Good vid bro, enjoyed the narrative on each bike.
trudenl I am sorry to here that but the DR is a awesome bike, the 2019 one will be a beast. Hope who ever stole it gets caught and gets jail time. I hate thieves. Thanks for commenting
You run your damn mouth too much just say how you feel and end the video, you are so unbelievably annoying. Like just STFU..
man you probably fun at parties. haters come in all shapes and sizes.
Dude the KLR is a 4 valve overhead twin cam HEMI let it breathe and it will rock your world!
ChicagoThunder1 Guess who yeah buddy! Better hang on😂
Which dual sport would be best for wheelies and drifting?
690 ADV I did a research and I am going to get the crf 450..thanks for helping though
Sakhs I would say maybe a CRF450L, 690/701or a 500/501 KTM/Husky if you are talking street legal from factory. Now if you get a kit then all bets are off, you can make one like a YZ450F, WR450F, crf450 and so on.
690 ADV also is there any off road street legal bike that does what I mentioned before?
Sakhs the 690 has ridiculous power and with SMC wheels will power wheelie in 3rd
690 ADV ok thanks..I really like the ktm 690..I am probably going to look for it
Best dual sports bikes
1. Yamaha xt660x or r.
With the famous bullet proof Yamaha Engine.
2. Yamaha xt600e best engine ever made
3. Honda FMX 650
Fast and nimble
4. Suzuki dr 650
Light weight.
5. Kawasaki klx
Great picks, those bike are all awesome! I do love Yamaha..... thanks for the great info
Husqvarna te610/630 /701
Husqvarna TR650 Terra.....fixed up. Phenomenal value, comfy, twice KLR power,......and waaaay!!! better. Rare now, so snatch one up. 😎
Bill DeProspero I have heard that bike is a beast and for the life of me don’t know why they don’t make them anymore!!! Sad when they make a great bike then take it away from us. Great comment thanks
There are only 5 made lol
you said under 400 lbs . That pig KLR650 is over 400lbs stock
I want a 40 hp, 6 speed, fuel injected, sub 300 lbs dual sport with long service intervals. The 690 is more power than needed on the dirt. Its also heavier than 300 lbs. The WR needs more power. The KLR needs more power and less weight (its not a dual sport IMHO but a ADV touring bike). The DR and DRZ are ancient and heavy.
Basically a WR450R would be perfect. Everything the same as the WR except more displacement and therefore power.
dahveed284 I agree, but if they did what would we talk about 😂
690 ADV as long as we’re dreaming, can we one day imagine a time when every manufacturer standardizes how they weigh bikes? Full fluids and ready to ride. KTM does dry weight, others do other variations. Makes comparisons difficult (which is why they do it).
yes a wr450r is a dream I want to come true!
As long as your being anal about the pronunciation of Husqvarna the word is similar, not simular.
yeah I know many have told me I can't help it! tomato tamato to me thanks for comment
Hey Joe, just found your channel and subscribed. I would like to get in contact with you and go over something if you get a chance. My email is 11b1p82nd@gmail.com
Sehr interessant, sollten uns mal unterhalten, Liebe Grüße Thomas
just wish they had a TW350... it would be heaven on earth..
+Suzukisan Find me one and I will buy it! would love one
TTR350.
Private Notitia yes it would be a awesome bike! I do agree
I tried to read the comments, but couldn't hit them all. So apologies if this has been asked and answered already. I'm curious...what are your thoughts on the new CRF450L? In your opinion, where does it land on the compromise between dirt/road? Thanks!
james sherry the crf450L is a great bike from what we have found out. It’s a real enduro so Lee that in mind for maintenance they are saying 700 mile oil changes. There won’t be much out there as far as luggage or gear bu that will come soon I am sure. I feel for the price I would get a 500exc or a 690 enduro or even a 450f Yamaha and make it street legal. I hope this helps
Thanks for the opinions....I'm one of those riders just looking to get into dual-sports. Got my eye on an 06 DRZ 400s already done up....
This may be 205 but "It's [690] lighter than all the four bikes." WR250R - 301.5 lbs. DRZ 400S - 320 lbs. 690 Enduro R - 336.5 lbs. Stock wet weights as measured by Motorcycle Consumer News.
perfect info, thanks the 690 is a tad heavier but that little extra weigh helps on the road. The 690 is stock 67HP and with a muffler change to wings make the 690 almost to light but all the bike in here are awesome and I wish I had them all. thanks again
What do you think of the KTM excf line?
Thats great info on the 250 KTM about the only way to pack up a KTM is to get a Rack system on it so it ties into the rear foot pegs if the 250 has any. The 690 has them I think just for show but you can get a rack and that will stiffen up the rear for luggage. Now for the Japanese bikes to KTM , I am sorry but KTM has made leaps and bounds on the reliability and and I am sorry for all that still think KTM just doesn't compare to the Japanese bikes they do and do very well! KTM cost more and thats where everyone uses the Reliability card you pay more and you get more! if you have never owned a KTM then you don't know. Thanks so much for the good info on the 250 excf
+690 ADV I currently own the 2017 250 excf. I had the 250L and the WR250R. First the good: the 250 excf is a superior performer in the relation to the Japanese 250s in every way. Suspension, range, power, weight, reliability, handling off and on road, engineering, ease of service, fit and finish, quality of parts, the list goes on. Yes I said reliability. Both of my Japanese 250s had recalls. Also, I don't race so my service intervals are about the same as what I did on the Japanese 250s. Now the downside: the 250 excf has no sub-frame so if one needs to pack a ton of stuff you'll have to find a workaround. Then again the excf (248 lb fully fueled) is 45 lb lighter than the WR and 55 lb lighter than the 250L. I would categorize the Japanese 250s as OK on the road and relatively poor on the trails. The excf is a step up on the road relative to the J250s due to the adjustable suspension and significantly more power. On the trails the excf is a superstar relative to the J250s. I am not dumping on the Japanese bikes, the KTM costs thousands more so I am not sure it's a fair comparison.
They are fantastic! which one you thinking? the 500 is a beast
Dealerships refusing to work on it means almost nothing.
I'm not arguing the bikes are the same, but it's gonna primarily be legal shenanigans and software that's PURPOSELY keyed to be incompatible with their systems.
I have a Saab 92X, it's literally a Subaru Impreza WRX. Subaru won't do recall work though, because GM is the one financially responsible for Saab products.
The XR 650L is probably the best dual sport for the price. My brother owns both a Yamaha Super Tenere and a Honda XR 650L, and for the type of riding I prefer, I like the XR 650L over the Super Tenere. I've even taken the said XR 650L on my local MX track, and it actually did surprising well. Just the fact that you can comfortably take a XR 650L on a MX track, makes it a lot better than the DR 650 and the KLR 650.
I do agree for all off road but on the road the DR I feel is better, I also based my review on what I have seen for 8+ years dual sport traveling and have only seen one XR650L in the wild with travel gear on it. I know that the XR is a bad to the bone bike but thats why it didn't make my pick and I do love the XR's thank so much for the comment
So what you’re telling me is, the 690 is simular to the Huskavarna?
micah yes it is, they are owned by same company
Well I finally picked up a 2012 690 Enduro R all setup with less than 4k miles from the original owner for $4.7k. I am still getting used to her, so how about a few stickers so I can represent in California?
goto the website if you haven't and signup for a decal have more going out feb.
The constant waving of your hands right in front of the camera is super annoying.
Just one of those things, everyone used there hands for expression sorry
Yawn yawn get on with it ffs
the real slim shady I think I did, shady the real slim shady. Are you Mr. Mathers the real one? 😂
jesus h can you just list em? why endless repitition?
I did in the video from 5 to 1
Yes, I liked The XR650l, l had a couple “timber’ s on it, lol. I’m on the hunt again
I have never owned a xr 650 but if I came across a XR650R i would be very interested!
Over the years had a couple DRZ’s, and a XR650l, so decided to give the Dr650 a go after reading and listening all the hype, didn’t like it, The DRZ is way better, something about that motor I just love. The worst thing about the Dr 650 is the seat and angle, even put on a seat concepts, painful
really didn't like the DR650? I do agree the DRZ is awesome 100% did you like the XR?
God blah blah. Blah shut the fuck up cand get to the point
